It all started as a toddler picking pots ‘n pans out of the cupboard and
bangin’ away. The rhythm could never be taught, but only felt.

Born in Montreal and raised in Morocco, once Marko Bongo stepped into
the lime light of Toronto’s Entertainment Scene, he has provided the city something it had never experienced before. His high-energy live percussion
sets has turned dance floors into frenzies and added spark to various events internationally. Many have since tried to imitate, but find it almost impossible
to duplicate.

Over the years, Marko Bongo has become a staple in the Toronto Nightlife Industry and has branched out to many international performances. Having shared the stage with many respected artists and dj's he has become a true pioneer in an industry that lacked live instrumentation.

"Music has been such a big part of my life ever since childhood. I can
remember my dad, (who was also a drummer), show me the basics, and I flew from there. From the moment I saw my first drum, I knew that was something I wanted and also needed to play. It was just the natural thing to do." says Marko.

Having been brought up in North Western Africa proved to be an asset, since many of the tribal rhythms and beats come for that part of the world. From the Saharan Bedouin's, West Guinean's to the Spanish Gypsies, the sound mixture was just right. After moving to Toronto, he studied Afro-Cuban and Brazilian
jazz along with Alternative and Rock, followed by Funk and Hip-Hop. This allowed versatility and expertise with all different types of drums and styles.

With his musical knowledge, Marko took up the art of drumming over house music in big venues... and the rest is history.

He has recently partnered up with fellow drummer Peter B to form "Bongo & B Entertainment" (www.bongoandb.com), a company geared towards scouting local artists and giving them the opportunity to perform at various corporate
and special events throughout the city of Toronto.

Keep tuned for what's in store next!

"Music is the essence of life... and life is created by a rhythm... it is truly a language spoken and felt by all beings" - Marko Bongo
